Montefalco Rosso Riserva doc
The Riserva version of our Montefalco Rosso, is vinified only from the best years and with a long ageing in large oak barrels. A blend based on Sangiovese with the typical Montefalco grape and other red grape varieties.
First vintage: 1998.
Harvest
It begins with Sangiovese at the end of September and continues with the other varietals. The grapes are hand-picked.
Vinification
Maceration tanks are filled by gravity feed. Fermentation in contact with the skins and maceration for about 3 - 4 weeks.
Ageing
Blending and maturation for at least 18 months in predominantly large oak barrels and then in cement vats. Bottle ageing for at least 6 months.
Tasting Notes
Intense ruby red in colour. Olfactory impact very intense and complex with fruity, floral and spicy hints. The taste is structured and elegant, with a remarkable persistence of taste and smell.

Flavoursome first courses; grilled meats, roasts; mature hard cheeses.
Best Period For Drinking
It is a wine that reaches full maturity after 4-5 years from the harvest and is able to refine in the bottle for a further 15 years.
